Ritchie County 38, Tucker County 34
Charleston – Abbigayl Cox scored on a layup with under 20 seconds to play Tuesday night as No. 5 Ritchie County upended No. 4 Tucker County 38-34 in the Class A quarterfinal Tuesday night at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win sends the Rebels to the Class A semis where they’ll face No. 1 Gilmer County on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
The win came after Ritchie’s Emily Bush stole a pass with the game tied, getting the ball to Elsa Law who hit Callie Smith and then bounce passed to Cox for the go-ahead bucket.
The bucket capped a comeback that saw the Rebels trail 31-21 early in the fourth quarter.
Law led Ritchie with 11 points in the win while Addi Moats led Tucker County with 12 points.
