Play Sheet Sports is launching a Player of the Week award!
Each week, players who are a part of winning teams have the opportunity to be nominated from schools in Nicholas, Fayette, Greenbrier, Raleigh, Monroe, Summers, Wyoming, Mercer and McDowell counties.
Each week Play Sheet publisher Tyler Jackson and a special guest picker will make their selections for the Player of the Week winner. The poll will then be used as a tiebreaker should the two disagree.
The overall poll winner will still be acknowledged each week for their community’s efforts in pushing their cause.
The nomination process can occur in two ways – coaches of teams that won a game during the week can email a nomination by 10 a.m. on Sunday morning with supporting statistics to [email protected]. If a coach has not nominated a player, Play Sheet Sports will select one from each team that submitted a box score or was covered in some capacity during the week.
This week’s poll will close Friday, Feb. 28 at 11:59 p.m.
- Maggie Boroski, James Monroe – Boroski scored 20 points in James Monroe’s win over Jefferson Christian.
- Kennedy Stewart, Greenbrier East – Stewart averaged 19 ppg for the Lady Spartans who finished the regular season 21-1.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – Treadway averaged 20.3 points per game for the Cavaliers this past week.
- Cadee Blackburn, Wyoming East – Blackburn broke the school (boys and girls) single-game scoring records for 3-pointers (11) and points (43) in a win over Oak Hill.
- Ella Botts, Summit Christian – Botts scored 28 points in the WVCAT title game, helping Summit win the title while earning MVP honors.
- Taysia Gray, Oak Hill – Gray scored 21 points in a bounce-back win over Greenbrier West.
