Thanks to our friends at the New River Career and Technical College, the Player of the Week poll is back!
Each week we’ll select one player from the area teams that win a game. Coaches are welcome to nominate a player. Nominations must be in by 2 p.m. each Saturday.
The winner will be chosen by Play Sheet Sports and a guest picker. If the two don’t agree, the poll will be used as a tiebreaker.
The player with the most votes each week will advance to our Community Choice Poll. At the end of the year, all 11 Community Choice winners will be entered into a poll where the community can pick their Player of the Year from those 11 players. The winner will receive a trophy commemorating their success and the support their community gave them.
The poll will close Thursday at 3 p.m.
- Max Simpson, Bluefield – Simpson threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns on 9-of-13 passing in a win over George Wythe.
- Keshawn Bland, Greenbrier East – Bland rushed for 157 yards and four touchd0wns as East completed a fourth quarter comeback for an overtime victory, it’s first of the season.
- Brock Green, Independence – Green threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns in a win over James Monroe.
- Jaxson Workman, Liberty – Workman rushed for 164 yards, four touchdowns and threw for 64 yards and two more touchdowns in a win over No. 4 Westside.
- Adrienne Allen, Montcalm – Allen threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Summers County, adding 55 rushing yards.
- Brennon Smith, Nicholas County – Smith rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown in a win over Midland Trail.
- Fawkes O’Dell, Richwood – O’dell finished with 263 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in a win over Tygarts Valley.
- Cam Huffman, Wyoming East – Huffman rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown, adding a 79-yard kickoff return touchdown in a win over Mount View.
