Thanks to our friends at the New River Career and Technical College, the Player of the Week poll is back!
Each week we’ll select one player from the area teams that win a game. Coaches are welcome to nominate a player. Nominations must be in by 2 p.m. each Saturday.
The winner will be chosen by Play Sheet Sports and a guest picker. If the two don’t agree, the poll will be used as a tiebreaker.
The player with the most votes each week will advance to our Community Choice Poll. At the end of the year, all 11 Community Choice winners will be entered into a poll where the community can pick their Player of the Year from those 11 players. The winner will receive a trophy commemorating their success and the support their community gave them.
The poll will close Thursday at 3 p.m.
- Vaxton Vaughan, Greenbrier West – Vaughan turned five carries into 70 yards and a touchdown, hauling in a 19-yard reception.
- Ben Comer, James Monroe – Comer caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, adding two totes for 27 yards and another score.
- Bo Wykle, Meadow Bridge – Wykle turned 13 carries into 95 yards and three touchdowns, completing two passes for 104 yards and two touchdown passes.
- Adrienne Allen, Montcalm – Allen hit on 8 of 11 pass attempts for 227 yards and five touchdowns, adding 40 yards rushing in a win over Mount View.
- Landon Keenan, Nicholas County – Keenan rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Oak Hill.
- Moose Hedrick, PikeView – Hedrick rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Buffalo.
- Bradyn Waldron, Westside – Waldron rushed for 227 yards and two touchdowns, adding 14 completions, 115 yards and two touchdown passes through the air for the Renegades.
- Zion Pitts, Bluefield – Pitts registered a pair of sacks and led a defensive line that held Independence to 30 yards rushing, 157 yards below its per-game average.
