New Richmond – Nine errors doomed Wyoming East Saturday as the Warriors dropped a 6-4 decision against Greenbrier East in New Richmond.
Haley Byars led Greenbrier East with two hits and an RBI in the win while Emma Pyles picked up the win.
Carli Raye and Olivia Vent notched two hits each for Wyoming East in the loss. Raye took the loss despite yielding just one earned run.
Oak Hill 5, PikeView 1
Charleston – Oak Hill took advantage of three PikeView errors and received a stellar pitching performance in a 5-1 win over PikeView Saturday in Charleston.
Mary Butcher fanned 12 in the win, issuing three free passes. Meeka Miller led the Red Devils at the plate, crushing a two-run homer in the fourth inning while KK Smith drove in a pair of runs as well.
Shelby Maddox took the loss despite a stellar outing for PikeView, striking out 13 and yielding just one earned run.
Greenbrier West 20, Richwood 0
Crawley – Greenbrier West jumped Richwood off the bat, taking a 12-0 lead in the first inning and rolling to a 20-0 win over the Lady Jacks Saturday afternoon in Crawley.
Brilee Redden led the charge for the Lady Cavs, launching her second home run of the season and collecting a pair of hits while Brooklyn Adkins drove in four runs on an inside-the-park grand slam.
Diana Porter and Kendall Taylor drove in two runs each.
Herbert Hoover 3, Shady Spring 0
Shady Spring – Shady couldn’t get its offense going early Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision against perennial power Herbert Hoover in Shady Spring.
The loss came despite Shady ace Jenna Joyce holding Hoover to just two hits and allowing one earned run.
Annabelle Sturgill, Kenidi Creager and Brinlee Cales collected two hits each in the loss.
Hoover’s Hannah Shamblin pitched the complete game shutout for Hoover.
Shady Spring 14, Midland Trail 1
Shady Spring – Shady Spring erupted against a battered Midland Trail team, scoring 10 runs in the first inning of a 14-1 victory Saturday in Shady.
Peyton Raban, Jenna Joyce and Brinlee Cales all homered with Raban and Cales driving in four runs each.
Raegan Lane struck out 10 in the circle for the Tigers.
Three different Patriots notched a hit each in the loss.
Herbert Hoover 12, Midland Trail 4
Shady Spring – Class AAA power Hebert Hoover erupted late, scoring seven runs in the sixth inning to earn a 12-4 win over Midland Trail Saturday at Shady Spring.
Trail starting pitcher Madison Rader took a line drive off the thigh late in the game, struggling to pitch through the injury when Hoover erupted.
At the plate she led the Patriots with three hits and an RBI,
Jaylee Carper led Hoover with three hits and four RBI and was one of three Huskies to blast a home run, joined by Hannah Shamblin and Liz Turner.
Symmes Valley 7, Independence 4; Independence 11, Point Pleasant 8
Point Pleasant – Independence split a double-header Saturday dropping its first game of the season the season 7-4 against Symmes Valley and picking up an 11-8 win against Point Pleasant at Point Pleasant.
Against Symmes the Patriots yielded five runs across the fifth and sixth innings. Paytin Brehm led the charge with four hits in that game.
Against Point Pleasant the bats were hot for the Patriots with Kassidy Bradbury and Ava Parks collecting three hits each while Emma Lilly drove in four runs.
Chapmanville 16, Wyoming East 1
New Richmond – Chapmanville erupted for 12 runs in the first inning, cruising to a 16-1 win over Wyoming East Saturday in New Richmond.
Wyoming East was held hitless in loss.
Belfry, Ky. 8, PikeView 0
Charleston – PikeView failed to push across a run Saturday evening, dropping na 8-0 decision against Belfry in Charleston.
Emma Compton led the Panthers with two hits in the loss.
