
Greenbrier East 4, Beckley 1
Beckley – Greenbrier East squeezed across a trio of run in the sixth and seventh innings to break a 1-1 tie and secure a 4-1 win over Beckley in Beckley Thursday.
Reagan Cline and Jenna Groves led Greenbrier East with two hits each in the win while Ally Martin drove in a pair of runs. Kennah Collins added an RBI as well.
Aubrey Smallwood drove in Beckley’s lone run of the game and struck out 16 in the circle, notching the 900th strikeout of her career.
Wyoming East 16, Man 4
Man – Wyoming East’s bats exploded again Thursday as the Lady Warriors notched a 16-4 win over Man in Man.
Five different players had hits for East led by Kaydee and Kiley Shrewsbury who had three each.
Carli Raye drove in four runs while Alivia Monroe and Mak Hatfield added three RBI each. Raye picked up the win in the circle, scattering five hits and not allowing an earned run.
Nicholas County 8, PikeView 6
Summersville – Nicholas County separated in the sixth inning Thursday, scoring three runs in an 8-6 win over PikeView in Summersville.
Zoe Nash, Makenzie Hanshaw and Myah Scott notched two hits each in the win with Scott securing the only RBI.
Emma Compton led PikeView with two hits while Bella Delida drove in a pair of runs.
Abby Hilleary earned the win, allowing just one earned run.
Shady Spring 2, Princeton 1
Shady Spring 16, Princeton 1
Shady Spring – Shady Spring came away with a doubleheader sweep against Princeton Thursday, toppling the Tigers from Mercer County 2-1 and 16-1 in Shady.
In the 2-1 win Lacy Osborne and Brinlee Cales led the charge with an RBI each while Jenna Joyce fanned 12 in the circle to secure the win.
In the 16-1 victory Peyton Raban highlighted the effort with a home run, double and three RBI while Alexa Quesenberry drove in a trio of runs with two hits. Joyce doubled twice and drove in two runs in what amounted to a three-inning affair.
Zoey Agnew had two of Princeton’s three hits on the day.
James Monore 9, Liberty 8
Lindside – James Monroe’s quick start propelled it Thursday as the Mavericks walked off Liberty with a 9-8 victory in Lindside.
James Monroe scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning before Liberty knotted the game in the top of the seventh.
Aliyah Clarkson homered on the first pitch of the bottom of the seventh to deliver the win.
Four different Mavericks, including Clarkson, had multiple hits while Evey Canterbury drove in a trio of runs with a double.
Allie Bowles led Liberty with three hits in the loss.
Mount View 15, Phelps 7
Phelps, Ky. – Mount View exploded late Thursday, scoring seven runs in the sixth inning of a 15-7 win over Phelps, Ky. on the road.
Four different Golden Knights had two hits each with Phoebe Dudgeon adding a pair of RBI. Shianne Belcher drove in four runs to lead the RBI department.
Dudgeon fanned 16 in the circle to secure the win, allowing just two hits.
