Independence 17, Margaretta, Oh. 0
Coal City – Independence made quick work of Margaretta, Oh. Saturday, toppling the Polar Bears 17-0 in three innings.
The Patriots put up 12 runs in the first inning en route to their victory. Leading the way at the plate was Ava Parks with a pair of hits and RBI.
Ryleigh Stewart also had two hits and two RBI for Indy in the win. Savannah Stanley picked up the win in the circle, no-hitting the Polar Bears.
Greenbrier West 10, James Monroe 9
Doddridge County 6, Greenbrier West 3
Crawley – Greenbrier West split a doubleheader in Crawley Saturday, toppling James Monroe 10-9 with a four-run rally in the seventh inning and falling 6-3 against Doddridge County.
Brilee Redden led the charge against James Monroe, hitting a two-run home run and collecting three RBI overall.
Maddie Fields, Brooke Patterson and Kyndal Taylor all had two hits.
Peyton Street led James Monroe in the loss with three hits and five RBI.
In the loss to Doddridge County Redden again had two hits as did Diana Porter. The Cavaliers were ultimately undone by six errors in the field, though.
Beckley 6, Liberty 1
Beckley – Beckley held Liberty in check Saturday, toppling the Raiders 6-1 in Beckley.
Aubrey Smallwood fanned 11 Raiders in five innings of work, adding a pair of hits at the plate.
Hadley Reott and Shailee Sexton also had two hits each while Kacie Fraley drove in a pair of runs.
Alyssa Scarbro led Liberty with three hits in the loss.
Ritchie County 9, Nicholas County 2
Nicholas County 22, Ritchie County 5
Ellenboro – Nicholas County split a doubleheader with Ritchie County Saturday, dropping the first game 9-2 before rebounding with a 22-5 win in Ellenboro.
In the 9-2 loss a five-run third inning broke the dam before a four-run sixth nailed the coffin shut.
Abby Hilleary led the charge with a pair of hits while Zoe Nash homered.
In the 22-5 win Makenzie Hanshaw reached base three times and drove in four runs while Aubrey Clark drove in four runs as well.
Hilleary and Kylee Amick drove in three runs each.
Winfield 10, Shady Spring 0
Scott 9, Shady Spring 2
Shady Spring struggled Saturday, dropping a doubleheader against Scott 9-2 and Winfield 10-0.
Against Winfield the Tigers managed just one hit, off the bat of Ladonna Osborne.
The offense struggled again in the loss to Scott, managing just three hits courtesy Raegan Lane, Jenna Joyce and Peyton Raban.
Mount View 24, Twin Valley 4
Twin Valley, Va. – Mount View’s offense rolled Saturday as the Golden Knights pounded out 22 hits and allowed none in a 24-4 win at Twin Valley.
Kayleigh Rose led the way with four hits and 6 RBI, homering in the win.
Phoebe Dudgeon added four hits while Shiann Carter notched three.
