Greenbrier East 28, Beckley 14
Beckley – Greenbrier East avenged a shutout loss from a year ago Friday night, toppling Beckley 28-14 at Van Meter Stadium.
Nate Suttle’s 100-yard interception return touchdown in the third quarter broke a 14-14 tie for the Spartans and was just one of three turnovers the Spartans grabbed through the air Friday.
AJ Godfrey built off of his Week 1 performance, picking up 101 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Brody Hamric threw two touchdown passes for East, connecting with Kaden Stone twice.
Gage Burdette led Beckley with 35 yards on the ground and a score while AJ Thomas hauled in a 23-yard touchdown reception.
