Hico – Jayden Roop exploded, collecting 236 yards on the ground Friday night as Class AA No. 7 Midland Trail collected a 27-12 victory over No. 10 Petersburg in a Class AA playoff game at Hico.
The win marks the first playoff victory for the Patriots since their Class A semifinal run in 2018.
Roop led the charge with a pair of touchdown runs while Gage Johnson rushed for 39 yards and another score.
QB Rayce Dickerson rounded out the night with a touchdown pass to Johnson.
Petersburg QB Peyton Metheny completed 12 of 23 passes in the loss for 135 yards and a touchdown with an interception.
Trail will play the winner of Bluefield-Oak Glen next week.
