Hico – Midland Trail and Independence wrapped up their preseasons Friday as the Patriots of Hico hosted those from Coal City for a scrimmage.Varsity played the first two quarters for each team while the JV squads finished the game out.
Freshman K.J. Viars scored on a receiver screen for Independence’s varsity while Sylas Nelson and Christian Linksweiler both had long touchdowns.
David Steele also scored for Independence on an interception return touchdown.
