2024 Recap
Behind a 2,400 yard season from running back Kaiden Sims, Meadow Bridge made a return to the playoffs in 2024 following a 7-3 campaign. Their season came to an end in a 44-30 loss at Pendleton County.
During the offseason head coach Dwayne Reichard stepped down after nine seasons at the helm.
2025 Outlook
The Wildcats are still in stellar shape to build off of last season.
Sims, a big, bruising running back, will lead the charge again after rushing for 2,433 yards and 30 touchdowns as season ago.
Also back is leading receiver Trent Roles who finished with 265 yards receiving as Meadow Bridge threw the ball just 42 times.
“Of course we have Kaiden back and Trent and Trip Roles,” new head coach Brandon Wickline said. “We have Bow Wykle back too and a couple players on the line that should help us.”
Wickline, in his first year at the helm, will be changing the philosophy of the Wildcats. Long known for their power-I identity on offense, with the exception of couple years in the spread, Wickline made the decision to move the program to a spread attack again but they’ll still be a run-first team.
“It just opens the field up for us more,” Wickline said. “We have good athletes and teams will try to stack the box on us. We feel like this spreads things out and gives us more favorable ways to run the ball. But we can also throw out of it. We want to get the ball in Kaiden’s hands and he can catch it a little bit too. He’s hard to bring down in space.”
While it’s been a change, Wickline notes his team is adapting to it well.
“It’s a little different,” Wickline said. “They’re learning where the holes are on the line and how to attack it differently but they’re doing a great job with it. We’re excited to see more of it.”
The schedule this year sees the addition of Summers County and Valley Wetzel in place of Gilmer County and Bath County, Va.
The Wildcats will open their season Sept. 5 at Pocahontas County.
