Coal City – Independence’s offense sliced through Martins Ferry Friday as the Patriots rolled to a 35-14 victory in Coal City.
Quarterback Brock Green was on the money, completing 15 of 18 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another.
His backfield mate Sylas Nelson was in prime form as well as the senior running back rushed for 157 yards and another score on 25 carries.
The Patriots (2-0) will hit the road for their next two games against Warren Local, Oh. and Scott before hosing Bluefield on Sept. 26.
