This is a developing story….
Former Westside boys basketball coach Thomas Evans notified Play Sheet Sports Tuesday via text that he had filed an injunction against the Wyoming County Board of Education to be reinstated to that position.
If granted, Evans will be allowed to return to the sidelines in Clear Fork.
Evans also informed Play Sheet Sports via text that the Supreme Court is attempting to appoint a judge for the case with local judges conflicting the case out.
Evans was terminated from the position on Jan. 3 at a Board meeting after superintendent John Henry made the recommendation to do so. Henry made the recommendation after Thomas committed multiple rule violations. He was placed on administrative leave in December following a loss to Chapmanville and chose to have an open hearing.
Nick Cook took over when Evans was placed on administrative leave and has led the program since, posting a 15-4 record over that span while leading the Renegades to the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament.
The Renegades are slated to host Midland Trail in a Region 3 co-final on Wednesday with a chance to go to the state tournament. Cook will be on the sideline for the time being.
