
Charleston Catholic 7, Independence 4
Coal City – Independence couldn’t muster any offense outside of the first inning, falling 7-4 against Charleston Catholic in Coal City Tuesday.
Indy yielded three runs in the top of the first but responded with four in the bottom of the frame to take the lead. Unfortunately for the hosts they struggled to score again as Catholic plated three in the fifth inning.
Hunter Milam notched two huts and drove in a pair of runs for Indy while Micah Cuthbert added two hits as well.
Jonah DiCocco led Catholic with four hits, all doubles.
Herbert Hoover 16, Nicholas County 8
Summersville – Nicholas County dropped a slugfest Tuesday, falling 16-8 against Herbert Hoover in Summersville.
Riley Johnson led the Huskies with four hits and two RBI while Jayden Ledsome drove in a trio of runs.
Colton Burkhammer led the Grizzlies with three hits while driving in a pair of runs.
Liberty 15, Van 7
Glen Daniel – Liberty rolled from the jump, toppling Van 15-7 in Glen Daniel Tuesday.
The Raiders led 7-1 early, allowed the Bulldogs to tie the game in the third inning and closed with the final eight runs of the contest.
Parker Hodges remained hot with three hits and as many RBI to match while Isaac Williams, Isaac Davis and Jordan Hodge collected two hits each.
Beckley 7, Oak Hill 6
Oak Hill – Beckley held off a late Oak Hill rally to down the Red Devils 7-6 Tuesday in Oak Hill.
Maddex Sims led Beckley with three hits while Brady Williams drove in a trio of runs. Sims dominated on the mound as well, fanning 14 in six innings while allowing just one earned run.
Owen Grose and Carson Treadway drove in two runs each for Oak Hill.
Richwood 12, Greater Beckley 4
Beckley – Richwood pounded out 12 hits Tuesday, securing a 12-4 win at Greater Beckley.
Jayden Hamon paced the Lumberjacks with three hits and as many RBI to boot while Kaden Lane, Parker Giles and Owen Wayne notched two hits each.
Eli Gunter and Drew Fitzwater led the Crusaders with two hits and two RBI each.
Wyoming East 16, Greenbrier West 2
Charmco – Wyoming East pulled away in the second inning, scoring 11 runs in a 16-2 victory over Greenbrier West in Charmco Tuesday.
Talan Muscari notched the first win of his high school career on the mound with 12 strikeouts in five innings for East. Braxton Morgan led the charge at the plate with three hits, driving in a pair of runs while Dylan Golden and Jaeden Lester secured two each.
Brenton Hodge drove in the only run of the game for West.
Greenbrier East 4, Shady Spring 2
Fairlea – Greenbrier East mounted a three-run rally in the sixth inning, securing a 4-2 win over Shady Spring Tuesday in Fairlea.
Zion Detko detonated on the Tigers, notching a triple and a home run to pace East while Brady May went the distance, fanning nine to pick up the win.
Sam Barnett took the loss for Shady, fanning 11 and allowing just two earned runs. Aiden Calvert led Shady at the plate with two hits, including a triple.
PikeView 16, Potsdam 1
Myrtle Beach – PikeView’s lineup change proved effective Tuesday as the Panthers picked up a 16-1 win over Potsdam in Myrtle Beach.
Trenton Tolliver led the charge as the new leadoff hitter, going 4-for-4 with two RBI while Eli Naylor drove in three runs out of the cleanup spot.
Landon Bolen, Landon Wyatt and Braden Huggins each collected two hits.
Wyatt earned the win on the bump.
