
Wyoming East 7, Charleston Catholic 6
New Richmond – Jarred Phillips unloaded the bases with a double in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting Wyoming East to a 7-6 win over defending state champion Charleston Catholic Thursday in New Richmond.
Trailing 3-0 before stepping up to the plate, Miken Smyth helped the Warriors settle in with a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame before Catholic answered back in the top off the second.
East responded with a pair of runs in the third but went silent until the seventh when Phillips delivered.
Smyth paced the Warriors with three hits while Phillips and Zach Hunt added two each.
Smyth finished the game in relief for East, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out seven.
Xander Allara led Catholic with three hits while Zaden Ranson and Connor Jarvis homered in the loss.
James Monroe 12, Summit Christian 4
Princeton – Thirteen different Mavericks notched hits Thursday as James Monroe secured a 12-4 win over Summit Christian on the road.
Peyton Garidiner led the charge with a home run and two RBI while Brock Parker notched two hits.
Levi Taylor picked up the win striking out eight for the Mavs.
Pikeview 7, Princeton 1
Princeton – PikeView blew open a scoreless tie in the fifth inning Thursday, toppling Princeton 7-1 in Hunnicutt Stadium.
Errors again hurt the Tigers who committed five Thursday.
The Panthers capitalized, scoring five runs in the fifth frame, scoring a run each in the final two frames.
PikeView notched five hits, getting them from five different players with Landon Wyatt producing the only RBI of the game.
All-state ace Eli Hilling was spectacular again for the Panthers, fanning 13 in a complete-game, one-hit effort.
Brody Combs led Princeton with 12 strikeouts while yielding five runs, none of which were earned.
Powell 8, Shady Spring 0
Powell blanked Shady Spring Thursday, securing an 8-0 win over the Tigers.
Cutter Boggs was the only Tiger to notch a hit in the loss.
Powell 4, Independence 0
Independence was no-hit by Powell Thursday, falling 4-0 against the quad-A team out of Tennessee.
The Patriots struck out 11 times in the loss.
Chance Moore took the loss for Indy, yielded four runs over five innings of work.
Westside 18, Bluefield 10
Bluefield – Westside’s bats were scorching in a rally Thursday as the Renegades secured an 18-10 win at Bluefield.
Seven different Renegades collected multiple hits with Braxton Waldron’s inside-the-park home run to open the game leading the way. Waldron, Kadien Vance, Zach Short and Noah Akers collected three hits each while Sawyer Kenney led the way with four.
The effectiveness at the plate was key for the Renegades who trailed 10-8 after five innings.
Cris Mills led Bluefield with four hits in the loss.
