
South Charleston 6, Beckley 4
Beckley – South Charleston outlasted and eliminated Beckley in extra innings Wednesday night, toppling the Flying Eagles 6-4 in Beckley.
The loss brings an end to the Flying Eagles’ season.
Beckley had the winning run at the plate with two outs but couldn’t bring it home.
Drew Gallaher led the hosts at the plate with three hits while Parker Williams added two hits and two RBI. In his final game Maddex Sims drew three walks.
Greenbrier East 7, Independence 3
Fairlea – Independence saw a 3-2 lead slip away in the late innings, falling 7-3 at Greenbrier East in the Class AAA Region 3 tournament Wednesday in Fairlea.
Independence will host PikeView in an elimination game Thursday while Greenbrier East will travel to Sissonville.
Graham Brewster led the Spartans’ assault at the plate with two hits and four RBI while Nelson Lynch plated two runs with his bat.
Eli Green picked up the win in 1.1 innings of relief.
Levi Barnett led the Patriots with two hits in the loss.
Greater Beckley 12, Greenbrier West 1
Beckley – Paul Fox dominated Wednesday as Greater Beckley toppled Greenbrier West 12-1 in Beckley.
Fox went 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI including the grand slam that ended the game early.
Eli Gunter and Kaden Bolen supplemented the effort with two hits and two RBI each while the pitching staff of Jayden Nguyen and Gunter held West to just three hits, one of them a home run off the bat of Bradley Hodge.
Ripley 11, Nicholas County 1
Ripley – Nicholas County battled Ripley but folded late, falling 11-1 in Ripley Wednesday.
The Vikings, ahead 4-1 heading into the sixth inning, ripped seven runs in the bottom of the frame to secure the win.
Coleton Hellems had Nicholas County’s lone hit while Lucas Milam drove in its only run.
The Grizzlies will now face the winner of Shady Spring-Princeton on Friday in an elimination game. Ripley will face Herbert Hoover.
