Nicholas County 4, Princeton 2
Beckley – Nicholas County pulled off a late rally, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 4-2 victory over Princeton Tuesday in the Class AAA Region 3 tournament at Epling Stadium in Beckley.
Princeton will travel to Shady Spring for an elimination game while Nicholas County will travel to Ripley.
Ira Mylott had two of Nicholas County’s three hits, adding an RBI in the win.
Caleb Jarvis had the other hit and an RBI. Zach Jenkins had a hit and an RBI for Princeton.
Both pitchers fared well with Lucas Milam not allowing single earned run while going the distance in the win. Deegan Walters went five innings in the loss, allowing one earned run.
Sissonville 11, PikeView 1
Sissonville – PikeView fell behind early and never recovered, spotting Sissonville five runs in the first inning of an 11-1 loss at Sissonville in the Class AAA Region 3 tournament in Sissonville.
Sissonville awaits the winner of Wednesday’s Independence-Greenbrier East matchup while PikeView will travel to the loser in an elimination game.
The Panther managed just four hits in the loss with Christian Walters’ double being the biggest. Trenton Tolliver reached three times for them, twice via walks.
Shady Spring 3, Herbert Hoover 1
Elkview – Shady Spring’s offense struggled Tuesday, managing just two hits in a 3-1 loss at Herbert Hoover.
The loss sets Shady up in an elimination game against Princeton in Shady while Hoover will face the winner of Nicholas County-Ripley.
Cutter Boggs and Brody Seabolt had the two hits for the Tigers in the loss.
Sam Barnett took the loss on the bump despite limiting Hoover to just four hits and one earned run.
