White Sulphur Springs – Seven years after calling The Greenbrier home for the early part of training camp, the Houston Texans made their return to West Virginia Monday, holding they first of four practices at the Sports Performance Facility.
Monday’s installation, a padded practice, saw the Houston defense get the better of the offense with offseason acquisition C.J. Gardner-Johnson returning a pick-six in 11-on-11s.
Star pass rusher and 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson made his presence felt as well, applying pressure and sacking Stroud.
“When I look at our defense throughout training camp, these guys are competitive,” Texans head coach Demeco Ryans said. “They’re competitive, they’re edgy and they play together. They’re aggressive. Defensively they’ve made a lot of plays. They’re playing with enthusiasm and executing really well.”
The Texans will resume practice Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. and hold two additional practices before their preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.
