
Charleston – No. 7 Keyser missed nine of its last 10 field goal attempts Wednesday night falling just short of upsetting No. 2 Wayne in a 54-50 loss in the Class AAA quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Trailing by four points late in the game, Wayne took the lead when Addison Adkins banked a 3 from the right wing.
The Pioneers retained the lead the rest of the way in a game that featured 10 ties and seven lead changes.
Mikayla Stacy led Wayne with 16 points and four steals in the win while Jayce Sammons added 12 points.. Brooke Adkins finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Kiya Kesner led the Golden Tornado on the loss with 12 points.
Wayne moves onto the Class AAA semis where it will face No. 3 Greenbrier East on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
