Girls State Tournament: Charleston Catholic ousts St. Marys, punches ticket to Class AA title game

Charleston – Battling foul trouble, No. 3 Charleston Catholic’s bench out-produced No. 2 St. Marys’ 13-0 helping the Irish secure a 59-50 win over the Blue Devils Thursday morning in the Class AA semifinals at the Charleston Coliseum. 

The win sends the Irish to the Class AA title game where they’ll face the winer of Wheeling Central-James Monroe on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Molly Messer led the charge for Catholic with 22 points while Ali Wilcox netted 18. Nora Aliff scored all 13 bench points for the Irish.

Brynnley Bullock led St. Marys with 19 points in the loss while Addie Davis netted 16.
