Charleston – Gilmer County held Cameron to a state tournament record two made field goals (2-for-46), topping the Dragons 48-16 Friday evening in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win sends the Titans to the Class A title game for the third time in four years where they’ll face the winner of Tug Valley-Greenbrier West on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Ava Dobbins led Gilmer County with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win while Allie Ellyson netted 15.
Cameron’s poor shooting night cleared the previous all-class record established by Westside in 2008 when the Renegades shot 12.5 percent (7-for-56) from the field.
The Dragons reached double figures by shooting 11-of-21 from the free throw line.
They were led by Maci Neely who scored nine of their 16 points.
