
Charleston – No. 1 Gilmer County brought a suffocating defense to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Saturday night, toppling No. 2 Tug Valley 66-22 in the Class A title game.
The title is the second in program history for the Titans for won in 2016 but fell in 2022 and ’24.
Gilmer held Tug to 10-of-64 shooting (15.6 percent) including 0-of-11 from downtown.
Gilmer finished shooting 45 percent (24-of-53) from the field in the win with Allie Ellyson and Lena Frymier leading the charge with 18 points each.
Ava Dobbins finished with a triple double for the Titans, netting 16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks in the win. Haven Deskins led Tug with nine points in the loss.
