
The 6-foot-5 junior poured in 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds, lifting No. 2 Wheeling Central to a 59-40 victory over No. 1 Williamstown in the Class AA title game Saturday morning in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win marks the first state title for Wheeling Central since 2018 when it won the Class A state title.
Leading 22-18 at the half after Sancomb hit a half-court buzzer-beater, Williamstown responded with a run through the third, leading 30-29 after a Cruz Isaly layup but Sancomb took over from there, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter, one the Maroon Knights won 25-10.
Williamstown by comparison struggled in the fi al frame, shooting just 21 percent from the field (3-of-14) after a stellar third quarter.
Max Olejasz was the only other Maroon Knight to hit double figures, scoring 14 points.
Isaly and Schramm led the Yellowjackets with 11 points each in the loss.
