Charleston – One inning proved more than enough for Ripley to sink Frankfort’s repeat hopes.
The Vikings exploded for five runs in the fifth inning, toppling the defending Class AA state champions 5-0 in the Class AAA state championship game Saturday evening at GoMart Park in Charleston.
Bryson Casto led the effort at the plate with two hits and two RBI out of the leadoff spot while Landon Meadows, John Cummings and Eli Phalen collected an RBI each.
The efforts were more than enough to back pitcher Jackson Curry who yielded just three hits and walked only one batter.
Lanson Orndorf reached base twice for the Falcons in the loss.
