Herbert Hoover 10, Nicholas County 6
Elkview – Herbert Hoover exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach and eliminate Nicholas County 10-6 Monday in a Class AAA Region 3 tournament game in Elkview Monday.
The loss came despite Nicholas out-hitting Hoover 9-6.
Caleb Burns led Nicholas with three hits while Coleton Hellems drove in three runs, homering in the loss.
Summers County 7, Liberty 4
Hinton – Summers County mounted a rally Monday, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 7-4 win over Liberty in a Class AA Region 3 elimination game in Hinton.
Colten Jones led the charge with two hits and three RBI while Grady Allen had two hits and two RBI.
Jones picked up the win as well, pitching 1.1 innings.
Parker Hodges and Chase Shea delivered two hits each for the Raiders in the loss.
Westside 9, Mingo Central 5
Clear Fork – Westside rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat Mingo Central 9-5 in Clear Fork Monday and keep its season alive.
The win sends the Renegades to the bracket final where they’ll face James Monroe, needing to win twice in order to advance to the regional championship series.
Charlie Hawks, Hayden Miller and Noah Akers led the Renegades with two RBI each while Hawks picked up the win on the bump.
Greater Beckley 4, Mount View 0
Beckley – Greater Beckley advanced to the region championship series Monday, securing a 4-0 win over Mount View in Beckley.
Collin Howell dazzled on the bump, scattering three hits in complete game effort while fanning 12.
Isaiah Lewis backed the effort with two hits while Drew Fitzwater hit a two-run single in the sixth inning.
