Greenbrier West 12, Mount View 0
Charmco – Brilee Redden did it all Monday night, going 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and pitching a shutout as Greenbrier West claimed Game 1 of the Class A Region 3 championship series 12-0 over Mount View in Crawley.
The series will now shift to Welch on Tuesday with West needing one win to secure a spot in the state tournament.
Redden notched her 10th home run of the season in the win while fanning 12 and allowing just one hit in the circle. Kyndall Taylor backed her with a three-RBI effort while Brooklyn Patterson drove in a pair of runs.
Shianne Belcher had Mount View’s lone hit in the loss.
Herbert Hoover 3, Independence 2
Elkview – Independence lost a heart-breaking pitchers’ duel Monday, falling 3-2 in 11 innings at Herbert Hoover.
The win sets up an elimination for Indy back in Coal City on Tuesday with a spot in the state tournament on the line.
Ava Parks, Bella Lilly and Emma Simpson all had two hits each for Indy in the loss while Kenzie Pierce pitched 10.1 innings, allowing just five hits.
Hannah Shamblin picked up the win, going all 11 innings for Hoover while fanning 11.
