Fairlea – Independence used a combination of hitting and efficient pitching to secure an 8-1 win over Greenbrier East in Fairlea, securing the top seed in the sectional tournament.
Paytin Brehm led the charge in the circle, fanning 12 and scattering three hits while Emma Lilly backed her effort at the plate with a trio of RBI on two hits. Brehm helped her own cause with a team-best three hits.
Ally Martin reached on a walk and a hit for Greenbrier East.
