Friday night will be a special one for one of the best shooting backcourts in Beckley.
On a night where Beckley will host longtime foe Oak Hill, 2019 graduates Bryce Radford and Danny Bickey will be inducted into the program’s Hall of Fame, having their jerseys hung around the concourse of the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
Bickey, a guard, played for four years, fishing with 749 career points with 494 coming in his senior season alone. During that 2018-19 campaign he set the program record for 3s in a single season with 90, vaulting him to fourth all-time in the program’s career 3-pointers leaderboard.
Following his high school career Bickey went on to play at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va., nailing 208 3-pointers en route to scoring 1,284 career points, the second-best mark in program history.
Radford, a teammate of Bickey’s, made his mark in Beckley and beyond. He played three years for the Flying Eagles, finishing with 1,038 career points. His most notable performance came in December of 2018 when he scored a program-record 50 points in a loss to First Love Christian. His game-winning 3-pointer against George Washington in the MSAC title game that season proved to be another high in that season which culminated in first team all-state honors for the prolific scorer.
After high school Radford played at both Indiana University of Pennsylvania and WVU Tech, setting the school record for 3-pointers in a game and season at IUP.
Friday’s game against Oak Hill will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
