Bluefield – James Monroe rode a big inning to a 5-1 win over Graham, Va. Saturday at Bowen Field in Bluefield.
The Mavericks used a four-run third to power the victory with four different players driving in a run.
Brody Barreras drove in two runs to lead the way while Cameron Crislip, Brock Parker and Baylee Ridgeway were good for an RBI each.
Peyton Gardinier picked up the win, striking out nine over five innings.
PikeView 8, Tazewell, Va. 4
Bluefield – Four different players drove in runs for PikeView Saturday as the Panthers collected an 8-4 win over Tazewell, Va. in the Coppinger consolation game at Bowen Field in Bluefield.
The bats were key in helping the Panthers climb out of a 4-0 hole through four innings.
Trenton Tolliver and Braden Huggins drove in two runs each while Eli Naylor and Eli Hilling had an RBI each.
Landon Bolen earned the win, his third of the tournament, fanning five and not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings of work.
Christiansburg, Va. 7, Beckley 2
Bluefield – Christiansburg Va. jumped on Beckley early, putting up five runs in the first inning en route to a 7-2 victory over the Flying Eagles in the Coppinger Tournament title game Saturday at Bowen Field in Bluefield.
Tyler Wilhite steadied the Flying Eagles in relief, allowing one run over three innings with two hits at the plate.
Brady Williams and Drew Gallaher notched an RBI each in the loss
Logan 8, Wyoming East 1
New Richmond – Logan’s bats did the heavy lifting Saturday as the No. 6-ranked Wildcats secured an 8-1 win over No. 5 Wyoming East in New Richmond Saturday.
The Wildcats notched 12 hits with Talan Thompson and Bentley Williamson collecting three hits each in the win. Jayce Wolfe added two hits and RBI.
Gaige Cooper led Wyoming East in the loss with two hits while Zach Hunt drove in East’s only run.
Greenbrier East 4, Independence 3
Fairlea – Greenbrier East held off an Independence rally Saturday, toppling the Patriots 4-3 in a matchup of regional foes in Fairlea.
Indy scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning and was led by Degan Williams and Cole Cunningham who notched two hits each. Orion Wills, Reid Warden and Hunter Milam had an RBI each.
Nelson Lynch smacked a home run for Greenbrier East while Zion Detko notched a pair of hits. Brady May added a hit and an RBI while Eli Green secured the win with 10 strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
