
Charleston – Class AAA No. 1 Bridgeport’s stout defense led the way Tuesday evening as the Indians held No. 8 Elkins to 27 percent shooting (11-of-40) from the floor in a 55-32 Class AAA quarterfinal victory in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win sends the Indians to the Class AAA semifinals where they’ll face Fairmont Senior on Friday at 11:15 a.m.
Phoenix Sickles led the Indians with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Anderson McDougal netted 13 points. They paced an Indian attack that shot 48 percent from the field despite scoring just nine points in the first quarter.
Levi Wanless led Elkins with eight points in the loss.
