Charleston – Jeriyah Pryor led the show Wednesday morning, scoring 28 points to send No. 6 George Washington past No. 3 Parkersburg 59-50 in the Class AAAA quarterfinals in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The win sends GW to the Class AAAA semis where it will face the winner of Morgantown-Washington on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
The Patriots led 18-7 after the first quarter and never relinquished the advantage despite a late charge from the Big Reds. The success came in large part because of a poor shooting day from Parkersburg which fired at a 30 percent clip (20-of-65).
Leah Hoston and Rayana Breckenridge scored 10 each for the Patriots to complement Pryor’s efforts.
Parkersburg was paced by Kennedy Porter with 17 points.
