Play Sheet Sports is launching a Player of the Week award!
Each week, players who are a part of winning teams have the opportunity to be nominated from schools in Nicholas, Fayette, Greenbrier, Raleigh, Monroe, Summers, Wyoming, Mercer and McDowell counties.
Each week Play Sheet publisher Tyler Jackson and a special guest picker will make their selections for the Player of the Week winner. The poll will then be used as a tiebreaker should the two disagree.
The overall poll winner will still be acknowledged each week for their community’s efforts in pushing their cause.
The nomination process can occur in two ways – coaches of teams that won a game during the week can email a nomination by 10 a.m. on Sunday morning with supporting statistics to [email protected]. If a coach has not nominated a player, Play Sheet Sports will select one from each team that submitted a box score or was covered in some capacity during the week.
This week’s poll will close Friday, March 14 at 11:59 p.m.
- Hanna Fuller, Greenbrier East – Fuller scored 16 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and changed the game defensively with two blocks as Greenbrier East secured a trip to the state tournament.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – Treadway capped her final home performance in fashion, scoring 35 points in West’s regional victory over Greater Beckley.
- Maggie Boroski, James Monroe – Boroski led the Mavericks with 22 points as they fended off a tough Summers County team to earn a spot in the Class AA state tournament.
- Abi Baker, Wyoming East – Baker scored 15 points and nabbed several steals as Wyoming East beat Mingo Central to earn its fifth consecutive state tournament berth.
