No. 7 East Fairmont 54, No. 2 Spring Valley 52
Charleston – Falling behind 12-0, No. 7 East Fairmont ripped a lengthy run and held on to upend No. 2 Spring Valley 54-52 in the Class AAA quarterfinal round of the state tournament at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The Bees took an eight-point lead late that was whittled to three points with under a minute to play. ESHS’s defense held though, forcing Sporing Valley into a turnover.
Kailee Hammond led the effort for East Fairmont with 15 points while Emma Moore netted 11.
Spring Valley’s Sophi Hutchison led all scorers with 20 points while Emma Edwards netted 18.
