Wheeling Central 71, Wayne 35
Charleston – Class AA runner-up Wheeling Central splashed onto the scene Wednesday, toppling No. 6 Wayne 71-35 in the Class AA quarterfinal round at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Central moves on to face the winner of Williamstown-Philip Barbour on Friday.
Haley Severns led a balanced effort for the Maroon Knights with 20 points while Erin Maxwell netted 16. Bella Fitzsimmons (15) and Seneca Heller (11) scored in double figures as well with the former adding 16 rebounds and th latter dishing 10 assists.
Jayce Sammons led Wayne with 14 points.
