
Thanks to our friends at Lewis Nissan and the New River Career and Technical College, the Player of the Week poll has found a new home!
Following up the success of our football Player of the Week polls, we’re launching one for basketball season as well!
Each week we’ll select one player from the area teams that wins a game. Coaches are welcome to nominate a player. Nominations must be in by 2 p.m. each Sunday.
The winner will be chosen by Play Sheet Sports and a guest picker. If the two don’t agree, the poll will be used as a tiebreaker. The winner each week will receive a trophy commemorating their victory.
The player with the most votes each week will advance to our Community Choice Poll. At the end of the year, all 11 Community Choice winners will be entered into a poll where the community can pick their Player of the Year from those 11 players. The winner will receive a trophy commemorating their success and the support their community gave them.
The poll will close Friday at noon.
- Zoey Williams, Beckley – Williams scored at least 20 points in wins over Logan, Grafton and Riverside to start the season.
- Abi Baker, Wyoming East – Baker averaged 19.3 ppg for the Lady Warriors who opened the season 3-0.
- Kennedy Stewart, Greenbrier East – Stewart averaged over 21 ppg, scoring 35 in a win over Nitro and 28 in a win over Beckley.
- Sarah Lilly, Westside – Lilly averaged 12 rebounds per game to lead Westside to a 6-1 start.
- Leah Adkins, Greater Beckley – Adkins scored 23 points in a win over Pipestem Christian and 17 in a win over Mount Christian.
- Raelyn Morris, Midland Trail – Morris scored 21 in a win over Greenbrier West and 19 in a win over Clay County.
- Mya Dunlap, James Monroe – Dunlap scored 20 in a win over Charleston Catholic, 26 in a win over Philip Barbour and 19 in a win over Summers County.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills averaged 16.3 points per game over the first month of the season for Independence.
- Natalie Rose, Princeton – Rose scored 22 points in a win over Nitro.
- Madison Coffman, Nicholas County – Coffman netted 21 points in a win over Shady Spring.
- Jaelynn Boone, Summers County – Boone scored 13 in a win over Shady Spring.
- Ali Williams, Oak Hill – Williams scored 13 points as Oak Hill downed Capital.
