Greenbrier East 39, Riverside 27


Belle – Greenbrier East scored in all three phases Friday, putting up 39 points in a 39-27 victory over Riverside in Belle.
AJ Godfrey led the standout effort for the Spartans with 182 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 21 carries while Brody Hamric threw a touchdown pass of 38 yards to Kaden Stone and ran for another.
Brayden Brown accounted for the Spartans’ defensive score, returning a fumble two yards for a touchdown while Nate Suttle returned a kickoff 92 yards in the second quarrel to give the Spartans the lead for good.
Tavion Woods led Riverside in the loss with 113 yards passing and two touchdowns.
Greenbrier East (1-0) will travel to Beckley (1-0) next week.
